The Lifetime-ish Warranty
Break a covered head and we replace it. That's the warranty.
We call it the Lifetime-ish Warranty. "Lifetime" because there's no time limit on it. Break it in week one or in season four, the answer is the same. "Ish" because there's one cost on your side: you cover shipping on the replacement. That's the entire catch, and we'd rather tell you about it in the second paragraph than bury it at the bottom.
The rest of this page is just the details. You can read all of it in about two minutes, and none of it walks back the first sentence.
What's covered
Heads in the RC1 family:
- RC1
- RC1 N2O
- RC1 INK
If one of those breaks — a snapped throat, a cracked sidewall, a broken scoop, wherever it gives — you get a new one. And it does not matter where you bought it. Direct from us or through a reseller, a broken RC1 is a broken RC1. Same head, same warranty.
What's not
Two things, and we'll be straight about both.
First: normal wear isn't breakage. A scuffed, beat-up head that's still in one piece is a used head, not a broken one. If it snapped, cracked, or came apart, that's a claim. If it just looks like it's been played with, that's a head doing its job.
Second: this covers the RC1 family only. Not shafts, not accessories, and not heads outside the family. If you own a Darkhorse and something went wrong, email chris@5lax.com and we'll talk it through. We're not promising anything in writing there, but talking costs nothing.
That's the full list. If the "what's not covered" section of a warranty runs longer than the coverage itself, something has gone wrong with the warranty.
How to claim
Email chris@5lax.com with two things:
- What broke
- Where on the head it broke
That's the whole claim. Plain language is fine; you don't need to write it up like an insurance report. We'd rather replace a head than argue about it, and the process is built to match. Once your claim is in, you cover shipping on the replacement head and we cover the rest.
Not sure your break qualifies? Email anyway. Worst case, we talk it through and you know where you stand. That beats a head sitting in your bag while you wonder.
Why we do this
Because a broken head is the moment a brand proves itself. Everything before that point is marketing. Everything after it is the real answer to whether a company stands behind the thing it sold you. We'd rather replace a head than argue about it, so that's the policy.
Some context, offered as of our last check and without naming names: typical head warranties in the market run somewhere between 30 days and a year. They're often one-time. They often require the original proof of purchase. That's the standard, and every company is free to set its own. We just decided not to match this one.
And this isn't a policy written to look good and never get used. We've processed over 160 warranty claims to date. Real broken heads, real replacements, real people back on the field. Lacrosse heads break — checks, faceoffs, cold weather, plain bad luck. We knew that going in. The warranty exists because of it, not in spite of it.

Or start with the full lacrosse heads collection and pick from there. Whichever RC1 you end up with, the deal stays the same: break it, email chris@5lax.com, cover the shipping, get back to playing.
